Sophia House is in a very tranquil yet convenient part of the village and only a short walk (four minutes) from the main square with its fresh food market, shops, bars, restaurant, medical center (emergency ailments as well as normal), dentist and pharmacy. La Plaza de la Constitution (the Main Square) and is extremely traditional and attractive with it's avenue of orange trees with half a dozen excellent and reasonably priced bars and restaurants, it is a truly delightful place to sit and absorb the charm of Spain (along with a glass of wine or chilled beer) especially in the evenings when the orange blossom or Dame of the Night is in bloom. The House is also only two minutes from the main road Which passes around the Village, The bus stop is just round the corner as is parking and a bit further on (100m) is an even larger car park. Buses are very frequent, reasonable in price and punctual - the only thing punctual in Spain!
Torrox Old Town is situated on a hill overlooking the sea and there are beautiful view and a charming variety of quaint little houses. Most walks Involve do some steps to climb and Whilst there is easy access to the house and it is near the center more level area it is not really suitable for the disabled or infirm so saying so long as you are relativel fit you can easily negotiate your Way to the delightful central square to sit and enjoy your coffee or wine. The Village winds in Labrynth of delightful flower bedecked streets lanes and steps, with the ever present warbling of canaries and finches as musical accompaniment. This is Real Spain but next to the sea and with modern conveniences.
Torrox Costa is a delight and only 2km from the Village. With a wide sandy beach and gorgeous rather sedate promenade with numerous restaurants and bars, stalls and shops to explore. Further along there is the wilder part with traditional beachside restaurants with the traditional delicacy of sardines braised on an open fire. There is thousands of gorgeous beachside where you can just stop the car hop out and take a dip.
Torrox has easy access to Malaga, Seville, Granada, Almeria, Cordoba, Alhambra in Granada and numerous quaint villages in the mountains of the National Park of Axarquia. There is masses to do and see with numerous watersports available as well as horse riding, cycling, off roading etc.
There is always the Fabulous Historical Cities of Malaga, Seville and Cordoba to visit to, just under a couple of hours drive it is worth leaving early.
If you like clubbing just to along to the east end of the Torre del Mar sea front, there are numerous beach front restaurants and ice cream parlors too.
It's well worth a drive to the Valley Lecrin Which has become a mecca for alternative health therapies and crafts. Then there is the Rhonda the fantastic cliff top inland town famous for its ancient bridge and buildings, closer to home we have our own mini Rhonda just up the road visit Comares up in the clouds or closer to God.
Sophia House makes the perfect little place to try before you buy. So if you are sick of the British weather rent out your house and just come and stay and see if you would enjoy living in Spain
