Although only 6 kms from the main road to Perpignan and Figueres and 25kms from the bustling Costa Brava, this is a surprisingly quiet and unknown area. Darnius nestles against the backdrop of the Pyrenees and offers plenty of paths for walking, cycling or riding. The Boadella reservoir is 2 kms. away and ideal for swimming or canoeing. The local swimming pool is only 200 metres from the house.

The village itself, with its Friday market is both charming and convenient for shopping and eating out. Figueres, at 25 kms. offers all the amenities of a larger town, with smart shops, a Thursday market and the Salvador Dali museum. It takes just 40 minutes by car to get to the beaches of Llança on the Costa Brava and 15 minutes to the French frontier.
