La Hacienda de Gredos is a restored stone farmhouse in grounds of ten acres within the protected environment of the Sierra de Gredos Regional Park. The little mountain village of Guisando, with its narrows streets and ancient houses, is about one and a half miles away. La Hacienda is set in a landscape of great natural beauty, with a backdrop of pine forests and the granite peaks of the Gredos mountains. The views from the house are sensational. To the south east the view extends for over fifty miles across the valleys of the rivers Tietar and Tagus towards the Montes de Toledo. The main house has a large open-plan living area comprising kitchen, dining area and comfortable seating for eight around a wood-burning stove. French windows in the living area lead onto a covered verandah with fantastic views. A covered gallery links the living area to the bedrooms. There are two double and two twin bedrooms, and two bathrooms. One bedroom and one bathroom are adapted for use by wheelchair users.In addition, there is a self-contained studio apartment with one double bed and bunk beds, shower room, kitchen and living area. Both the house and the flat open onto an enclosed garden formed from the old farmyard. Within the garden there is a sun terrace with gas barbecue, table tennis, and garden badminton. The pool is set about thirty metres from the house in its own large, securely fenced pool enclosure. There is ample pool furniture and a solar-powered shower.The farm, with its terraces, mountain stream and wilderness area, is completely unspoilt. No chemicals are used anywhere on the farm and, as a result, the environment is rich in bird life, butterflies and wild flowers. The majority of the fruit trees are cherries end chestnuts, but there are also apples, figs, pears, apricots, walnuts and vines. Guests may pick and enjoy the seasonal fruits produced on the farm. The area is home to a wide variety of birds, including a number of rare species such as the Black Stork and the Spanish Imperial Eagle. In spring and summer, the mountainside is carpeted with wild flowers and there are butterflies everywhere. There are many mountain streams which, after rain, become torrents of water. In summer, some of these are dammed to form natural swimming pools, extremely popular with both locals and visitors. It is a wonderful location for family holidays, or for those who simply want to enjoy the peace and tranquility of this little known part of Spain.
