The house will accommodate up to 12 people in:

1 double bedroom with en-suite (king size bed), 1 further double bedroom, 4 twin bedded rooms. A sofa bed and single folding 'guest bed' are also available

a spacious living room with large fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, 2 further bathrooms.

Vine shaded courtyard, Utility room with toilet off courtyard, terrace overlooking pool and gardens, 8m x4m swimming pool, with cold shower.

Lush gardens, abounding with fruit trees, olive trees, fragrant herbs and flowers. Two streams border the property, meeting in a leafy glade at the end of the garden, just the spot to unwind with a book, or for childrens adventures.

The cortijo's original threshing circle now provides ample parking at the front of the house.

The house is equipped with TV and DVD player, CD player, and has a supply of music and films. It also has a library of books and maps about Spain, Andalusia and the surrounding area. Iznajar

The house is about 6 kilometres from the hilltop village of Iznajar (pronounced eethnachar, with the 'ch' as in 'loch' and the accent on the second syllable).

The town gets its name from the Arabic "Hisn"(castle) and "Ashar" (happy), referring to the Moorish castle which towers pictursquely above it.

Iznajar commnads views over the surrounding countryside - rolling olive clad hills as far as the eye can see, and the lake - 32 kms long and 6kms wide.

There is a beach on the lake near the town where you can swim, and there are also opportunities for fishing and sailing.

The highlight of the Iznajar calendar is La Feria Real (7th -11th Sept) in honour of the patron saint, La Virgen de la Piedad. Life's necessities

The house is well equipped for you to self cater, with a fully fitted kitchen, and a gas barbecue on the terrace.

There is a large dining table in the living room, and also one in the garden under the vines.

And for fresh fruit -well you're welcome to pick what's in the garden at the time.

The nearest village (2kms)has a small supermarket and bakery. Villanueva de Tapia (4km)has bars, shops and a market selling fresh food.

There are a few bars close by where you can spend a pleasant lunchtime or evening, eating simple local food, with a bottle of wine, or a beer.

The hotel at Iznajar - El Cortijo de Iznajar -serves a slightly wider, more international menu, still based on local produce.

The Finca de la Bobadilla, an internationaly renowned restaurant is a 15 minute drive away, for that special occasion.
The house is in the province of Cordoba, and the city of Cordoba is within easy reach, as is Granada.

A little further away, (about 2hrs drive)is Seville.

In a little over half an hour, you could be in Antequera, with its charming old town, commanding spectacular views of El Torcal National Park, and across the plains.

El Torcal is an area of majestic and fascinating limestone columns and formations, with marked walking trails.

Antequera also boasts a golf course at the Antequera Golf Hotel.

For those with a taste fo ancient history, Antequera is home to the most important dolmenic complex in Europe.

The Sierra Nevada, with its opporunities for winter sports, is about 1hr 30 mins drive.

A short drive to the west takes you to Fuente de Piedra, and its lake, with Spain's only breeding colony of flamingoes, as well as a multitude of other bird life.
