This charming cave house established for over 3 years offers everything you could wish for to make your visit one to remember. Be like many others who have stayed here and come back year after year and still find something new. It is spacious and light, cool in the hot summer months and warm in the autumn and winter months. It has its own private gated courtyard and private parking. Situated beneath the castle ruins in the heart of the village on a single track road.The nearest grocery shop is only 2 minutes walk away. the village itself is well served3 grocery shops, butchers, bakery, pharmacy and Cafe Bar. The baker stops right outside.On sundays we have a small friendly market where you can buy fresh vegatables and fruit, plants, clothes, bedding and shoes. For the young at heart there is even a disco occasionally. Dont worry you cant hear it from the cave house, it is sound proof. The village is not too large(approximately 750 residents). and everyone is very friendly. Lake Negratin is a 13 Km lake where you can swim, fish, hire a boat or just laze and enjoy the sunshine. There are several restaurants and cafe bars all round the lake. You can walk along the old road on the Cueves De Campo side of the lake( it was buried beneath the water until just 2 years ago). Drive to the Thermal Baths at Zujar, on the opposite side, or just drive along the road and stop and enjoy the beauty of it all. If you are a keen bird watcher you wont be disappointed as there are many breeds of birds to be seen around you, such as Spanish Royal Eagles, Griffon Vultures, Hoopoes, Golden Orioles to name just a few so bring your binoculars. You can walk to the dam (Embalse Negratin) from the house, it only takes about 1 hour along a quiet country road. Stop and have a cool drink at the nearby cafe and walk back at your leisure. At certain times of the day you may well meet some of the villagers as they take their daily exercise along the same road. The nearest large town is Baza, which is approximately 20 minutes away. Here you will find several well stocked supermarkets, usual town shops and a huge market on Wednesdays. Baza holds its fiesta in September starting on the 6th with what is known as the Oil Run, to us English anyway. It is messy but good fun. This heralds the start of the fiesta which lasts for up to 2 weeks, there is a funfair and everyday there is something knew to see and do. Lots of fun for all the family. Baza has many ancient buildings and it is worth going to the Museum and getting a street map so you can see them all. For the walkers amongst you go to Sierra De Baza which has a visitors centre where you can find out a little of the history of the fauna and flora. Visit the restaurant and enjoy a very good meal or drink, served by friendly, helpful staff. There are numerous walks to be had at the Sierra De Baza and they are all well marked out for you. Various lengths and degrees of difficulty. The historic town of Guadix is not too far away either. Here you will find a town with a wealth of ancient buildings, a colourful and interesting cathedral and many little cobbled streets, where you will find the tall, narrow town houses that have many balconies with colourful plants adorning them. There is a cave musuem and a ceramics musuem. Guadix itself has a very large and busy market on Saturday. There is plenty of free parking in the town. When you have finished looking around Guadix and its market head out on the Almeria road to the village of Calahorra, nestled beneath the ski resort of Sierra Nevada. This village with its complete Moorish Castle is well worth a visit. It opens its doors to the public 1 day a week and is worth seeing. It has been featured in many historical films. Granada and everything it has to offer is 1 hour away. Again there is much to see and do, with the Alhambra Palace, Science Museum and many other museums and art galleries. Visit the Moorish market and old town of Albaycin. Walk at the foot of the Alhambra along the river banks and soak up the atmosphere. Or just wander round the many shops or side streets. There is something for everyone here. Also the ski resort of Sierra Nevada is just the other side of Granada. That is well worth a visit, even if you dont want to ski. There is something for all age groups to do in and around the village of Bacor Olivar. The owners live in the village and will meet you on arrival, show you to your holiday destination and let you know where they live, in case you have any questions or just want to call in for local information. They are there to ensure your holiday is how you want it but will not intrude at all. If you book for more than 1 week they will offer a cleaning service to save you the trouble. A substantial welcome pack is provided free of charge and in the cave house you will find many maps, guides and walks that the owners themselves have carried out and written down for your benefit. the roads all around are dual carriageway once you leave the village. A car is essential if you want to travel further afield but there is some public transport and there is much to see and do without leaving the village at all.
