Malaga, often ignored by mass tourism, is a city to be visited. Its centre is fascinating with its majestic Gothic Cathedral, surrounded by Moorish architecture & narrow meandering streets. It has a mass of taps bars & at night there is a wonderful variety of restaurants bars & clubs to visit. In August there is one of the most vibrant ferias in Spain to experience.

The newly opened Museo Picasso is a ‘must see’ attraction with a magnificent selection of Picasso’s paintings. There are of course Theme parks & Water parks to keep the children happy. Nerja is situated on a low cliff with a number of sandy coves scattered along its front. Despite tourist development, most of the buildings are low rise & the urbanisation has been well designed. The centre has a number of pretty streets linked together by Plazas. The main attraction in the town is the Balcon de Europa, a tree lined promenade jutting out into the sea with lovely views along the coast & to the inland mountains. Further east is the popular beach of Burriana. There are bars, beach bars, restaurants & shops galore through out Nerja. Just to the north of the town are the world famous Nerja caves which were accidently found by a group of schoolboys in 1959. They are now a
national monument. The limestone caves with their stalactites & stalagmites are awe inspiring & well worth a visit. La Axarquia is located inland from the coast east of Malaga city. It is an area which is a treat for walking as there are marked differences in the climate, vegetation & terrain between the higher passes & the coastal fringe.The Mediterranean is often visible, sparkling in the distance with the Sierra Tejada providing a spectacular backdrop. The main towns in the region are Velez Malaga which is the main market town & the coastal resort of Torre del Mar which have all amenities & an excellent indoor shopping centre, bowling alley & multiplex cinema.
