A little hideaway, tucked away in rural countryside. Wild & wonderful outside. Stylishly simple within.

The Casita itself uses soft tones and natural materials, terracotta floors, high beamed ceilings and picture windows to create a feeling of space & airiness.

There's a cosy sitting room and a rustic kitchen / dining room. Both bedrooms look out over the wild garden sprouting from old stone walls.

This is the ' good life ' in spain.

The owners live ext door to the Cortijo, but it is totally private. Whether you choose to sit & relax below an old Carob tree or enjoy the stunning view as you float in your private pool, winding- down seems to come naturally here.
Positioned 3km off the beaten track, the house is well worth the effort. With little to disturb your reverie, your holiday at Tijo Rosa may well be the first of many.

Amenities : The village of Los Tablones ( 3.5km ) 2 bars : In Motril ( 11km ) & Salobrena ( 18km ) you will find beaches, bars, restaurants and super markets. The area has a wide range of walks accessed directly from the Casita. Horse riding can be found in the area. There is a golf course on the coast ( 16km ) at Motril. The historic cities of Granada, Cordoba & Seville are all within easy reach & skiing in the Sierra Nevada's is a two hour drive

Beaches : Salobrena & Motril. A variety of beaches & coves can be found all along the Costa del Sol & the Costa Tropical

This mountainous region stretches across the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with deeply eroded sheltered valleys, lush meadows & terraced farmlands watered constantly by the melting mountain snow which is there for much of the year. The Alpujarras provide without question the best walking & hiking opportunities in Andalucia. The cultural interest in the region lies in its 50 odd villages which were the last stronghold of the Moors. Possibly the most picturesque villages are the famous trio of white villages which cling , one close above the other, to the slopes of Poqueira valley. Pampaneira, at the bottom, bustles with craft shops, bars & restaurants, as does Bubion, half way up the slope backed by the snows of Sierra Nevada, with its massive church tower standing on the plaza of rough paving stones. At the top of the valley is the authentic Alpujarran village of Capileira, where
rocky streets, overhanging passage ways & stone houses are still there and unspoilt by driving modernisation. The capital of the region is the market town of Orgiva, which has a lively outdoor market every Thursday, which attracts people from all over the region, both locals & those seeking an alternative lifestyle, who have lived in the region for decades.
Some areas in Andalucia are noted for their hams (Jamon Serrano), especially Trevelez, which at over 4,800ft above sea level is the highest village in Spain, and famous throughout for its mountain ham produced from white pigs rather than the usual Iberian black ones.

The Alpujarras have of course been recently publicised by Chris Stewart’s two best selling autobiographies.
