Although nearly 100 yrs old, Casa Triana has all expected modern conveniences, can sleep six (with sofa bed) but 4 is probably more comfortable. Beautiful views of the mountains and village from the roof terrace.
Competa is an attractive growing village, nestled in the Sierra Almijara hills about 50 kms from Malaga airport and 25 mins from the coast. It has a variety of bars and restaurants, with all local amenities, such as good supermarkets, fresh bakery, and fresh produce. The local pool is less than 10 minutes away, with facilities available for many activites such as tennis, horseriding straight into the mountains, trails into the mountains in 4-wheel drives. Golf on coast. You could even book a Spanish course at the local language school! On coast there is an water park which is great for kids.
Note: English videos brought from England will only play in Black and White, although the English videos hired abroad will play normally.
A few steps lead up to the kitchen.
Enjoy a completely modern kitchen with authentic granite stone worktops and solid wood kitchen cupboards. Former Spanish kitchens consist of a sink and cooker(!) which we felt was a little basic.
The dining room comfortably seats six and is reached via an archway from the kitchen. It overlooks a small private plaza where, as is common in the small village, neighbours sit out in the evening, in the cool of the day. Both lounge and dining room have ceiling fans. From the kitchen, steps lead up to the two bedrooms, a double (which can be made into a twin) with plenty of wardrobe space and a twin. There are independent fans in each room.
There is plenty of bedding, with extra pillows and covers kept in the wooden trunk in the dining room. All rooms have been newly double glazed 2004. There are heaters in every room in the house, as the nights in winter can be quite chilly, even if the days are warm and sunny.
As is common with many Spanish Village houses, the bathroom was the last room to be added, bringing houses up to expected modern standards, which is why it is on the third floor.
There is a small utility room next to the bathroom, where you'll find the washing machine and bedding. It makes it very convenient to have the washing machine here as you have only to hang it out on the roof terrace on the same floor - in summer, a whole load can be dry in 30 minutes! The roof terrace has superb views over the mountains and rooftops of the village. Patio table and chairs are here for eating out. In the summer, part of the terrace roof is covered with bamboo to provide protection from the hot sun. The table can be folded completely flat if you want to put down the sun beds for relaxing during the day.
