Located in the south-facing foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Cortijo Canaveral offers a charmingly restored rustic casita (cottage) close to the farm house, with the use of a swimming pool fed by a natural spring. The perfect holiday spot for the free-spirited and independent nature lover who prefers an adventurous walk up the mountainside to the discos and bars of Costa del Sol. The cottage accommodation comprises of double bedroom, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and a lounge/bedroom. Outside there is a terrace with table and chairs.

The log cabin provides extra accommodation and comprises of 1 fully furnished double room with twin beds. Electric lighting and plugs. Outside washing basin with running water.

A washing machine is available in the farmhouse. Direct flights are available to Granada with Ryanair, who fly from Stansted, Liverpool and (as of Feb 2007) East Midlands (Nottingham).

Monarch (www.flymonarch.com) also offers direct flights to Granada from London Gatwick.

Granada is a 45-minute drive from the nearest town, Orgiva.

Alternatively, Orgiva is a scenic and uncongested 2 hour drive from Malaga airport, from where hire cars can be arranged for as little as £100 per week. There is also a reliable bus and coach service from Malaga bus station to Granada bus station, and again from there to Orgiva. With the beaches of the Costa Tropical a mere hour's drive, the "white villages" of the High Alpujarras 45 minutes away, the bustling village of Orgiva (numerous banks, ATMs, supermarkets, bars and restaurants) only 30 minutes by car, and the city of Granada with its Alhambra Palace and Albaicin district at an hour and a half, the seclusion of the cortijo is offset by a host of regional attractions and amenities, including bird watching and the Sierra's ski resorts.

Please note that the last 12 minutes of drive from Orgiva to the house are on a rough off-road track. This can become particularly bumpy in the (relatively) rainy months (autumn and spring). Some guests have beneffited from 4x4 rental cars.

The owners live permanently on site and are available for advice and help throughout your stay.

A deposit of 50% of the total price is required with booking, with the full balance due a month before arrival.

Please note the above prices are for the cottage alone. An £80 additional charge per week should be added for the combined cottage and log cabin price (£290-£340).

Further accommodation is available in the farmhouse on a per person basis at £90 per week. A number of alternative therapies are also available (astrology, tarot, dreamwork, homeopathy). A customised package, including full board, is available at a cost of £240 per person, per week.
